How format, dimensions, quality, and browser-local processing affect the final files.Are original images uploaded or replaced?
No. The browser reads each selected image and creates a separate optimized download. BarcodeMaker does not intentionally upload the files, and your originals remain unchanged on the device. Compare the result before deleting or archiving any source image.
Should I use WebP, JPG, or PNG?
WebP is usually the best first choice for website and shop photos because it balances quality and size. JPG remains useful for broad compatibility and photographs. PNG is better for logos, diagrams, or transparency, but photographic PNG files can remain much larger.
What is the difference between resizing and compression?
Resizing reduces pixel dimensions, such as limiting a 4000-pixel photo to 1600 pixels wide. Compression stores the remaining pixels more efficiently. For web images, reducing unnecessary dimensions often saves more space than lowering quality alone.
Why is an optimized file sometimes larger?
A small or already compressed source can grow when converted to a lossless format, a larger dimension, or a higher quality setting. Compare the before and after sizes shown by the tool and keep the original when the new file offers no useful reduction.
How many images should I process at once?
The tool accepts up to 20 images within the displayed total size limit, but older phones and low-memory browsers may work better with smaller batches. If processing pauses, reload the page and try five to ten images with a reasonable maximum width.
