Free to use — no account required

BarcodeMaker is a free barcode label generator. The core workflow — upload a spreadsheet, map columns, download a PDF — is free with no usage limits and no sign-up required.

What is free

Everything in the core BarcodeMaker workflow is free:

  • Upload unlimited Excel (.xlsx, .xls) or CSV files.
  • Generate Code 128 barcode label PDFs with 24 labels per A4 page.
  • Map any column to barcode value, product name, SKU, or price fields.
  • Download the PDF directly to your device — no email required.
  • Use the label template designer to adjust label size and layout.
  • Download sample Excel and Shopify CSV files to test the tool.

There is no free trial period, credit limit, or watermark on generated PDFs. The tool is free because it is supported by advertising through Google AdSense.

Why it is free

BarcodeMaker is built and maintained by a single independent developer. The tool does not require a backend server to process your files — everything runs in your browser, which keeps operating costs low. Display advertising through Google AdSense covers the remaining hosting costs and keeps the core generator free for everyone.

This model means you get a fully functional barcode label tool at no cost, and BarcodeMaker stays available without requiring subscriptions or per-download fees.

What you need to use it

To generate barcode labels with BarcodeMaker, you need:

  • A modern browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge (any recent version).
  • A spreadsheet file: Excel (.xlsx or .xls) or CSV format.
  • At least one column of barcode values such as SKU numbers, product codes, or item IDs.
  • A printer or a way to print the downloaded PDF.

No software installation, no account creation, and no credit card is required. The generator works on desktop and laptop computers. Very large files (tens of thousands of rows) may be slow depending on your device's memory and processing speed.

Supported file formats and output

BarcodeMaker accepts the following input formats and produces the following output:

  • Input: Excel .xlsx (Excel 2007 and later), Excel .xls (Excel 97–2003), and .csv (any comma-separated values file).
  • Barcode format: Code 128 — supports letters, numbers, and most symbols; widely compatible with handheld scanners.
  • Output: A4 PDF, 3 columns by 8 rows, 24 labels per page, automatically paginated for large files.
  • Label fields: barcode value (required), product name (optional), SKU (optional), price (optional).

Frequently asked questions about pricing

Will this always be free? The core PDF generator is intended to remain free. If paid features are added in the future (such as custom templates or additional barcode formats), the basic workflow will stay available at no cost.

Is there a row or label limit? There is no enforced row limit. Very large files may be slow depending on your device. Practically, files with a few thousand rows work well in most modern browsers.

Do I need to create an account? No. BarcodeMaker requires no registration, email address, or login of any kind.

Are there ads?Yes. BarcodeMaker uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. This is how the free service is supported. Ad preferences can be managed through Google's ad settings.

Get started

To create your first barcode labels, go to the generator on the homepage, upload an Excel or CSV file, map your barcode column, and download the PDF. If you want to see the format first, download a sample file and try it with the generator before using your own data.
